Annual General Meeting

Apologises were received from Harvey Grimwood with a topic for A.O.B. at the meeting.

  1. Minutes of last AGM on the 13th February 2007

The Minutes of the last AGM were accepted and approved.

  1. Reports

  1. 1 The Chairman

The Chairman read his report for the year commenting on the enthusiastic membership within the club. He said that the Monthly Competition was well supported and that the standard of work by the beginners/Intermediate section was first class. He spoke about the Saturday Workshop now having a theme, which had improved attendance. It does require 15 members attending to make it viable, to cover the cost of the hall. The club attended the Aldermaston and Thatcham Shows during the year. The Chairman then proposed a vote of thanks to the Ladies for the refreshments and Brian Collins for his wonderful selection of timber and for being a good friend to the club. During the year, the club purchased a new lathe from Toolpost with the support of a grant of £500 from Thatcham Town Council. A further £750 has been promised from Greenham Trust so that we can buy new Video/Audio equipment. The committee is also looking at further funds from a Charity in the spring of this year and an application to the National Lottery for a 2nd small lathe and a further upgrade of the video equipment.
The Chairman said he would like to personally thank the committee for all there work throughout the year. Bob Morley and Sheila Hughes have resigned.
Lastly, the Chairman stated that he would be standing down due to ill health.

  1. 2 The Treasurer

Copies of the audited end of year 2007 KVWT Club accounts were distributed to the members present and The Treasurer highlighted various issues on the balance sheet. He stated that the excess of Income of £929.29 had been invested in a new club lathe. Other features of the accounts were also explained in detail cumulating in the fact that the club had broken even for the year.

The Chairman praised Ken (Treasurer) for a first class job and the meeting approved the accounts.

4 Election of Officers

After a discussion, the members proposed and approved the election of the following: -

The Chairman then thanked the retiring committee members John Bowles, Sheila Hughes and Bob Morley.

  1. Review of subscriptions for 2008 as required by Rule 11 of the constitution.
The committee recommended they remain unchanged and this was agreed.

  1. Recommendation of an Honorary Membership

No new honorary membership was awarded but Brian Collins was thanked for his services to the club for timber supplies and remains an honorary member.

  1. Saturday Workshop Times
Time for Saturday Worksop will now be 1.30pm with a finish at 4.30pm

  1. A.O.B.
Shop prices for Hegner will increase on 1st March.
Various discussions took place about the club competition.
The visiting club demonstrators were spoken about.
The Annual General meeting was closed.

The Reg Bailey Trophy entries were exhibited and voted upon by the members and Derrick Moate was declared the winner.
